Review
Virus what have caused people to turn zombies is still out there causing problems to humanity. There is still survivors there and there but the situation is looking bad. Alice who have been genetically modified joins with one group of survivors where is people who have been with her when she escaped from the laboratory. She have unhumanly powers and the evil scientist from Umbrella corporation wants to find her since she and her blood might be the key for fighting against this zombie issue what they have caused in the first place with their lab tests.
Like previous Resident Evil -movies (Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Apocalypse) this is quite straighforward action movie. Still this is many ways much better since there is less action and more story building so actions scenes have some meaning and it does not make those scense feeling boring.
In previous movies action scenes have been terrible because of their chop-chop editing what makes scenes just a huge mess what is almost impossible to follow and sadly this was paritially true on this movie as well. Still it was not nearly as bad and most of the action scenes were understandable, but it would have been better if cutting style would have been much more relaxed.
There were jump scares on this Resident Evil as well. This time those were made mostly with a style and they were not annoying. There were not too many of them so there was better balance on jumpscares as well.
Story itself is ok, but it made no sense that when they had followed Alice via satellite and they found her they were not able to recognize her more than 62 % confidency. Still later they were able to stop her using the satellite so it made me just wonder that if they were not previously sure if the Alice is the lady who was recognized with 62 % confidence then whey they didn't just send the signal to try to stop that woman. If that was Alice, she would have been stopped and they would have been sure she is the correct lady? Or was it because they have no authority to do that? Still the same scientist faked the voice of the man in higher power and give himself equipments to get Alice, so he could have done it previously as well? Well, this is a small logical problem in the movie so it does not matter that much anyway.
Visually this movie was even better than previous ones. I liked the overall look, the colors and how the mood was done well with color grading and excellent audio atmosphere. These were excellent.
All in all, this was much better than Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Apocalypse and I even liked this in many ways. Of course editing on action scenes could have been better still, but since there was less action and those were at least less confusing than on previous movie this was much more interesting movie to watch than those other Resident Evil movies before this.
