Is this new Aleksinblogi.net?

No, this is personal home page

Some of you who have been reading previously my blog aleksinblogi.net might have seen this my new web page and noticed that I have written some kind of blog posts here as well even I have ended blogging on aleksinblogi.net already some time ago sometime last autumn. Of course since this page is new one there is not yet much posts, but at least it seems that there is some and I have also some others in my mind what I have thought to write about. This might rise a question that is this just a new version of aleksinblogi.net or what is the relationship between this page and that blog I had.

To put it briefly, this is a personal web page but aleksinblogi.net was only for blogging. On this personal web page there is also this blogging or "texts" section, but the point of this whole site is not only for blogging. Blogging is only a part of this site, but the idea of this site is broader. Here I have at this current moment list of my UHD movies I own, I have couple of separated pages about those movies I own and in future hopefully I have here list of my vinyls, CD's, DVD's, BluRays's and C-Cassettes as well as VHS's I own.

Another big difference for my aleksinblogi.net is that this site is fully in english and I have no plans to write here anything in finnish, at least currently that is my vision. Of course visions can change and everything can be different tomorrow if I just choose to do so. You never know what future brings.

Since this is personal web page and not only the blog it give much more flexibility in many things to make this site look and feel more unique than just a regular Wordpress blog with some selected theme. Of course I know that it is possible to do everthing I do here to do using Wordpress as well and I have also enough technical experience to make Wordpress behave they way I want if I need to it do different things, but then it just raises a question why should I if I can just do static HTML + CSS for the sake of enjoyment of doing it?

In Wordpress it is possible to do custom pages what looks different or even use it only as a backend and grab the content via API and create whatever UI using whatever frameworks I want but then again that would be a overkill for this page where it would serve no purpose. It would just complicate things unnecessary when all what I want is simple static web site. On my freetime projects I rather do fun things and for me old school HTML + CSS with text editor is fun :)

Differences of my personal web page and my blog

Since what I wrote above is already a quite long wall-of-texts for many so let's do here a shorter summary what's the differences between blogs in home page and blogs at least on my own case:

• Dedicated blog is mostly only for blogging even there is possible to do pages as well
• Home page have also other content and there might not even be any blogging
• Blog content is mostly for other readers
• Some of home page content is mostly for me and it is not that interesting for average reader, for example list of my UHD movies is something what average blog reader would not be keen to know
• Dedicated pages for different things is natural part of the home page. For example in future hopefully I have here separated page for about my laptop or whatever. In blog it would make no sense even of course it is possible as well.

So shortly personal web page is a home for everything I find intersting to write or to share about even it is totally useless for everybody else. Some parts of this site might interest you, maybe even everything, but it is more excepted that most of the content of this site is totally uninteresting stuff for average person who lands to this page somehow. Blog instead tries to be focused on some topic(s) and keep readers returning and it tries to offer interesting content for others as well.

Is aleksinblogi.net ever coming back?

Hopefully! If it will return some day, it will be totally different than what it is currently. There would be no any kind of recurring posts on some days (like every friday and every saturday since any kind of time schedules makes it harder to keep. If I will continue writing it there might be times when I don't write anything and then there might be multiple posts on some weeks.

Still the future of that blog is a open question. Time will show what will happen!
