Some words about this album
This was the album what led me to listen more real metal than previous bands I had listened. Surely I do not know if the Children of Bodom is THAT heavy at all, but back then it was very heavy for me. I had listened Nightwish, Stratovarious and some others metal bands before this, but I heard couple of songs or at least one song from this album (maybe a Bed Of Razors, maybe others as well) by accident. A friend of mine had some songs from band called Hatebreed but in this folder had some songs from Children of Bodom from this album.
I played those couple of songs to my another friend and he said that these are not songs from band called Hatebreed, these are songs from Children of Bodom. I was quite surprised. Later I got to hear the whole album and I liked it - and I still like this.
Before that I had that kind of attitude that I do not want to listen darker metal since I thought those were satanic or something, but when I found out songs from this album by accident I was able to like those songs without pre-judgements and therefore I just found out that hey, this is actually very good music.
This album was released 1999 but on 2023 it still sounds good and catchy for my taste. Nice melodies, good guitar playing and energetic songs.
