The Truman Show

Review

A man called Truman is a famous reality film star even without knowing it. He has been on the cameras since his birth and his life has been broadcasted to TV Show called The Truman Show. All around him is fake, a world where everything is a lie. Finally he starts to see signs around him what makes him wonder if there is somehing strange going on around his world.

I had seen this movie couple of times in my youth years and finally after many years I saw this again. I remembered the plot of the movie, but all the fine details had already lost from my mind about this movie. I liked this movie back then and now when I saw this it is easy to understand why I liked this. This movie is just a great movie with lots to think about.

I have heard different theories what his movie is about so at least for me this is a positive thing when I think about the movie. Plot of the movie is very clear, but there is different viewpoints what this means and how people see it so at least it has made people think - and that is a good thing.

For me this movie represents humans internal need for something real. We all are like Truman in a way - we live our lives, do same old routines from day to day and many things all around us feel empty, dull and fake. Sometimes we are looking meaning for our lives from empty and meaningless rat race what is excepted and seen as a normal thing, but does it really spark a joy in our lives same way than real connection to another human when we are in love?

This movie also gives some food for the thought. Truman is living his life in his own town in his own bubble repeating same thing forever and ever until he finds out that the fear is the only thing what makes him repeat his life what does not even satisfy him. When he finally face his fears and win them, he is really free. He escapes from fake world to search for something real.

I liked this movie a lot still, so it is worth the watch.
