Review
A virus what turned people to zombies was released 10 years ago and humanity is in danger because there is less and less humans alive. Alice hears there is antivirus what could help the humanity to survive so she tries to go and release it before whole humanity is destroyed.
I had seen this movie once before, but I had not any kind of memory of it so it tells a lot about this movie as well as something about my memory. I had given 4/10 to this previously, but if I would give stars nowadays I can easily tell that it would not get even near that amount of stars. Still I prefer not to give star ratings or any other ratings to movies or any other art forms, so I rather explain my views of the movie verbally.
This movie is just terrible because of its editing style. It is totally mess from the first action scene to the last. In the first two Resident Evil movies you saw terrible chop-chop editing style and it was annoying to watch, but then next movies were so much better since they had not that terrible editing anymore. I don't know what on earth they have thought on this movie when they have edited it since it was much worse than first two movies were, and that is a lot.
This time editing was not terrible and unbearable mess only on action scenes but it was terrible on more slow paced scenes as well. Or well, there was not much slower paced scenes since even on scenes what were more relaxed by their nature was ruined with annoyingly fast editing style. If scene is not fast and there is not actiong going on and it still is edited that most of the shots is around couple of seconds it makes it annoying to watch. On action scenes there was 3 to 5 or even more shots shown withing a second so it was just impossible to get anything out of the scenes except annoyance.
Bad style does not end there tho. There was lots and lots of unnecesary camera movements and rotatings on scenes where it did not give any other value than just to create movement. When you add unnecesary camera movements with annoyingly short shots you get a mess what looks like somebody with ADHD would have edited it when (s)he have been on speed.
Every movie have good things to say as well and this makes no exception. Visual style was still looking good. Lightning and colors were well made as well as CGI. This time we had not that much beatuiful scenes tho - or maybe there was not just time to see them because of annyoingly short shots - but overall image was looking nice. Audio was also something I liked. It just works.
Best part of this movie probably was still its story. The story itself is not very rich and interesting, but at least it told the history and all the imporant things what viewer of this serie might have wanted to know.
All in all, this movie is totally disaster and it is not worth the watch unless you have seen all the previous ones and still want to know what will happen. Its story it is strongest point even it is mediocre, but at least it gives answers. This movie is still a perfect example how to ruin movie totally by editing. Maybe this might work for people who have attention span like a goldfish, but if you enjoy to see movies what have scenes what is generally longer than 5 seconds then this is not worth the watch.
At least now I can easily understand how I have not memories of this from previous view. I just saw this again, but I only remember small parts of the movie anyway - others are just lots of flashes of 2 second clips combined together. No wonder why there is nothing to remember in it.
