Review

Interesting story with good plot twists, but too much brutal violence for my taste to be very enjoyable.

Jennifer Lawrence is one of my favorite female actors and I especially respect how she can convey feelings of a character she is acting with so many subtle but noticeable facial expressions. On this movie it is easily see on many scenes that she have her acting skills still in a good shape which is not a surprise, tho. Professionalism does not vanish easily.

Plot of the story is interesting, even tho it somehow feels like "Russia is bad and they are cruel animals but America is good" kind of narrative. Still, I found that the story of this movie is refreshing in current era of Hollywood movies. No forced LGBTQ-agenda, no unrealistic casting of minority groups for the sake of casting them without any other meaning for the story.

Sadly interesting and not over used story somehow is diminished by overly grotesque violence. Especially on the torture scene I felt it so brutal that I had to continue movie next day. It is worth mention that I am quite sensitive - maybe even oversensitive - for this kind of stuff, so this might not be an issue for many of the movie goers. For me it was still too much that I could recommend this movie very easily even it have lots of good aspects.
