Review

Two woman are living together on war time and trying to survive by selling stuff they steal from dead. Sometimes they even kill wounded to get their stuff stolen so they can sell it. Younger one who is daughter in law to this older lady starts a relationship with a man who have returned and who was with this lady's husband who have died. Older woman does not approve their relationship and when she gets the demon mask stolen from one samurai he uses it to scare this young woman.

I find it interesting that there the older lady was using stories about hell for scaring this younger woman so she would not spend time with this man. It had symbolism what people associate in christianity, but same time they were talking about the buddhist references. This made me wonder if there was christianity affecting japanese culture back in the day when this movie was done or where this view about the sin, punishment and eternal hell came from in the first place to this story. Of course as a christian myself I do not believe that kind of hell since it is unbiblical view, but sadly it is the most common among the christians still.

This story is interesting and the ending is good. All in all this movie was a very good one.
