Review

A young girl called Olivia wants to get to a beauty content and she goes there with her parents, brother, grandpa and uncle. Their trip to the California is a wild and unforgottable to all of them.

Characters of the movie are interesting persons and all of them have very unique character traits and that makes them interesting and feel more realistic. Like in realistic average family people are different and they have different dreams and issues, but when needed they still stand together and support each other.

Most memorable and laughable character for me was still the grandpa, old dirty man who mostly talks inappopriate things to others but who still have a warm heart and who can speak with kind words when needed to support those who need support.

This movie somehow seems to give also a critique of the current zeitgeist where everybody needs to be best or at least aim for perfection and how destructive it can be. Father of the family talks about two kind of people - winners and losers and his unrealistic black and white naive view of the world is destructive to others around him. Life is not that black and white and when they go to the beauty competition his eyes seems to open and he realize the insanity of the competition. On that moment when others want to kick Olivia out of stage - and for a good reason - he goes and stand for her to give support. Sometimes winning is not about being the best, sometimes winning is that you have done the best you can.

I like this movie. It is fun, smart and it have realistic but exagerated vibes so it offers something you can relate to.
