Review
A girl and a boy meets on a new year eve when they get randomly chosen to sing in the stage. They sing together and after that change their numbers. It is a surprise for them when they meet soon each other in the same school because this girl has just moved there. They will have interest to each other and they will end up sing together in theatre class. Their singing is not what others wish they to do, even they are very good. They both have their roles what others except from them and it is quite hard for others to approve their passion for the singing.
This is the movie what is full of stereotypes and cliches. There is a handsome young lad who is also the captain of the school basketball team and who many girls seem to like. There is also a very smart beautiful woman to who this boy fells in love.
The bigger story is about growing out of the role what others except you the be. Basketball team captain wants to be a singer and a smart nerd woman wants to sing as well, but others does not seem to like their idea what they should want, instead, they want them to fit in the role where they belong so they don't challenge the status quo.
Even this movie is full of cliches and stereotypes of this genre, I liked this movie. Or maybe because of that, hard to say. It have an happy ending, it is romantic, it is fun, it is easy to watch, it has meaning and also the character growing. It is not very deep, of course, but it is just purely fun to watch.
