Review
A young man is talented driver. He comes to Nascar and he have problems surviving there, but he manages to overcome those and become better drivver with the help of his mechanic. He and his hardest competitor also have bad blood between them because of their driving styles what is not clean always and they have to handle their issues outside the track after fatal crash.
This was a great movie. Scott who have directed also the movie Top Gun is showing his passion for fast things in Days of Thunder as well and many ways it feels like a Top Gun with Nascar cars. It had similarities in story as well like the arch enemy who becomes a friend, but it does not matter, this just works.
I like how well the music, fast cuts and tight close ups are used to create the feeling of the speed and how it gives good adrenaline rush to viewer as well. Also the overall balance of the movie is excellent. There is slow pacing, there is some kind of drama and the ultimate victory is not finally about the victory in race, but victory over own ego and own fears.
