Review

A criminal called Jack Napier falls to the acid on his heist gig in chemical factory. He stays alive but badly hurt and after surgry his face looks like it is always smiling and therefore he will become to known as a Joker. He starts to do more crimes in Gotham city but the city have its own protector, a Batman.

This is a timeless masterpiece on its own genre. I have seen this multiple times on my childhood and I liked it back then and it has not lost its charm even when I have grown. I can but wonder if my love for gothic style in visual forms are affected by Burton's Batman on my early years. Visually pleasing dark and mysterious atmosphere in Burtons Batman is like a stage painted for the dark and seductive temptresses of vampire movies what I have later grown to become fan of.

Visual style and beautiful aesthatics are still not only great elements of this movie. DC Comic characters in Batman are interesting and they offer lots of potential for many kind of performances and we have seen multiple different outcomes through the years. In Gotham city universe criminals are mentally ill weirdos and in some ironical ways the bat suited hero on the good side of the law are not far from weirdo either. But hey, who I am to judge, maybe millionnaires have lots of time and energy to have this kind of hobbies to run out at nights beating criminals on a latex suit.

Joker performed by Jack Nicholson is a gret example how many different kind of roles Nicholson can handle. Unlike Ava Max's song Sweet but psycho Joker is more like a fun but psycho and in his own world he is an artist who just like to perform different kind of deadly art.

All in all, this movie was great back in the days and it still remains a masterpiece, at least it is that for me.
