Review
A crew of seven members of commercial space ship is returning back to the earth. They think they are closer to earth than they actually are when they wake up from their deep sleep pods. They find out that they are awake earlier because there has been a signal coming somewhere in space and there has been a programming in their space ship computer that they will be waken earlier if such thing happens and they need to take a look what is causing this signal.
They will land to some planet where that signal comes from and part of their crew goes out to take a look. Crew who are left in space ship finds out that signal is not S.O.S. signal - instead it is a warning signal. Others outside find out why so after one of the crew memeber finds eggs where aliens are living before their birth. That creature jumps to his face from the egg and it is tied tightly around him. They will return to their space ship and they should have stayed in quarantine, but one of the crew memebers let them in against the orders. It turns out to be a bad and deadly decision for many since this alien what is stucked on this man face escapes and there will be a fight between crew memebers and this alien.
I have seen this couple of times at least before this time, but this time I watched Theatrical 1979 version from UHD disc. Not sure what version I have seen previously, but like previously this was a great movie and many movie makeres nowadays should learn from this masterpiece how to make great movies.
Pacing of the film is great. It is relaxed, it builds slow, story develops well and it will take its time without hurry to build the plot and the scenes. Still it will get faster in the end and action feels more action because it have a great contrast between against casuals slower paced scenes. Also when things go slow it will build a tension for the viewer when something will happen and that is something what too often seems to be forgotten in modern movies.
CGI was well made and it didn't look bad even on 2023. Acting is excellent and the atmosphere in general is just gerat.
This movie is a timeless masterpiece and everyone who are keen to learn about cinematography should see this movie.
