Review

People fly to the moon with their rocket. They will meet there citizens of the moon. Voyagers from earth get prisoned, but they managed to escape. When they return back to the earth one moon citizen who tried to stop their escape gets to earth as well.

This was interesting to see mostly for the cultural and historical reasons. A trip to the moon is one of the first or maybe even the first sci-fi film, or at least one of the oldest sci-fi films what is survived for us to see. Film is short, only about 15 minutes so it is still quite far from casual movie lenght of later times. Still it manages to tell the story what is understandable even without dialogs.

Of course this cannot be compared to modern films in many ways - story lacks of depth, there is no dialog etc. etc. but that would be just silly to compare it to more modern films. This film still shows how many things - like special effects - were already possible to do on movies in 1901.

This film is fascinating part of cinema history and must see to everybody who wants to learn more about history of the cinema, but if you are just casual film watcher then you might not get much out of it.
